Players Traded, Part 1: Odd Moments

I’m gonna be doing a full series of this, just go and revisit players the Canadiens and a few other teams have let go.  Funny moments, or something like a (n) “eulogy on his career in that sweater” or something odd.

Recently Montreal has traded quite a few players.  Adored, and hated.  So to start it off, a player everyone was crying foul when traded after going hot and taking them to the conference finals.  Jaroslav Halak.  Unfortunately for St. Louis he forgot he could be that good, fortunately for the Canadiens because it didn’t bite them in the ass since well, they got pretty good talent in return.  Lars Eller and Ian Schultz, Eller alone is enough, the guy is fantastic.

More on the picture later on!

The other player is Jaroslav Spacek, or Spacho Man as the nickname he gave himself on HabsTv.

Spacek did his part in Montreal, he played his part, took his hits and his shots and scored a few, but he was soft, but consistent and hard working.  The man earned his paycheck but was the odd man out, on his last year of his contract he was expendable and knew it, when management asked if they could trade him he said sure to help the team.

He brought Kaberle in return, Tomas Kaberle two years ago was going to be traded to Montreal at the cost of Yannick Weber and Tomas Plekanec, his stock fell so bad, same player, but more apparent of how bad he can be besides being a good Power play specialist.  Now Spacek was traded for him, what a cheaper return.  How the mighty have fallen.

Up in the next blog, How the Mighty Have Fallen?   With Andrei Kostitsyn for Jordan Staal and a second round pick, with a conditional pick the Penguins offered and Bob Gainey saying the worst word possible.  “NO” More on that Soon.

Anyway, funny moment/injury time: Spacek was rushing for the puck, and as his biggest flaw that Halak had was rushing to the puck too much, which led to the Habs demise and losing a chance to the cup finals vs. Chicago that Philly exposed.  Note the Flyers captain Mike Richards scoring because Halak rushed, missed and Richards recovered and scored.

In this occasion, This time injuring Spacek who if I’m right didn’t return until the playoffs that year.

And the quote I wrote the second I saw this.  Enjoy!

Changing of the Winds, The Coaching Moves in the NHL

If you haven’t been paying attention, this season has started really bad for quite a few teams.

If you were paying attention insert “DUUUUUH BRO” <- Yeah kinda like that.

So who’s gotten the Musket Squad this season?

The Blues who were supposed to be the Big Time Winners! In the Jaroslav Halak trade and instead are looking for third stringer in Ottawa Elliot to take the load and he’s doing phenomenal.  Meanwhile Halak has looked like a Sieve.  I want to say I saw this coming because one hit wonders in the playoffs has been the common thing since the NHL took its name to full form back in the day.  When I say back in the day I really mean non rap song but like 100 years ago “Back in the day” Days.

Great talented players, a few greybeards like Langenbrunner and Arnott signed to go with a few rugged vets the team had already to go with the core of youth and this team is supposed to dominate.  Instead Halak flopped, in every game he played basically, way to rep those sweet Brian’s Pads man.  No hard feelings I loved you in Montreal but I’m a realist.   So the Blues struggle, instead of making a trade, or skating the teams into submission until they got who was in charge the players then turned their head on the coach instead of turning their heads and looking at each other.

Out goes Davis “Major” Payne.  He couldn’t throw enough grenades for training to save his job.  In Comes Ken Hitchcock who takes over as a cup winning coach, a defensive minded leader who allows his offensive players to run amok and lets the grinders pitch in while pinching back.  Got him a Cup got him conference finals runs in Philly prior to the lockout.  Got him nothing when he coached the Siberia of hockey known as Columbus.  But Columbus is that drunken ugly girl you had sex with in high school.  Someone you deny you know and never should have touched.

Which in all honesty, how the hell the Blue Jackets have survived so far blowing really hard and still have the same coach and management staff intact shocks even me. It takes a lot to shock me, just sayin.

Recently in the same span of a week we saw a few more coaching changes.

Scratch that! Make it ONE DAY!!!

First we’ll go with the Big team with the 100 Million Dollar marketing machine.  The Washington Capitals.  They fired Bruce Boudreau.  If recent statistics don’t fail me, which they have shaking fist lousy Internets, Boudreau (who is not French f.y.i. Habs fans demanding a French speaking coach, we’ll continue that talk later) was the fastest coach to reach 200 wins.  200 wins!!!  That’s more than some of the coaches lately.  Unfortunately for Bruce this record did not go into the playoffs March.  Bowing out to the Flyers, Penguins, and the “lowly” Canadiens who came back to beat them in Game 7.  And who can forget their playoff squeak in and Meltdown in the 2011 playoffs?  The losing streak magnified by the HBO series.  Of course, who can forget those awesome rants with the F-Word being utilized in some hilarious donut and Ice Cream rants.

"I don't know what ta tell you dawg"

Humor aside Boudreau was the scapegoat because the team fell into a funk where his “important” 9.5, and 6.5 million dollar sieves couldn’t get their Asses going.  You would think if someone paid you that much you would work hard as hell to earn that cash (looking at you my fellow Mexican).  And it’s much easier to get rid of the captain of the ship than the 100 Million-Dollar Marketing Machine.

So? Out with Bruce.

So? Who’s In?!
Dale Hunter!   If you don’t know who Dale Hunter is, then please punch yourself.  Dale Hunter is one of the most Toughest and hardest working players from the 80s and 90s, the guy would fight his own brother Tim just because of the jerseys he played for.  Dale was the heart and soul of the Capitals in the 90s, the Captain, and one of the dirtiest players too.  Go look up Dale Hunter hits Pierre Turgeon. (Click on the sentence for the video if you're lazy)

Now, How about Dale Hunter Scores in OT?  More after the jump, Goal is at about :21 seconds

This guy was a legend, a fighter, hard working player and one of the angriest guys in the league.  In the 90s the team was based around him.  Scoring, hard working grinders, puck moving hard hitting defense.

It makes you wonder, how long until the team bites into his play, and how long until someone rebels?  So far the team has not won a game, and is having trouble adjusting to his play.  For those of you calling Hunter a rookie to coaching please take a look at his resume.  He has coached the OHL London Knights for a LONG time. And did win some championships.  He’s produced NHL players who say great things about his ability to work with players.  It’s only going to be a matter of time before you see the Caps change it up.

My friend quoted this and I’ll quote this again.  “Alex Semin won’t fit in.  Alex Semin, future KHL All Star”

Paul Maurice.

One of my favorite coaches, and one of THE CLASSIEST coaches in the NHL!  He could have been bitter and said some things and wished death to the new staff.  Instead he leaves that note!  Click on the link.  What a classy guy! This guy coached the Whalers until they moved to Carolina, led them to the finals on a scrappy roster, then was let go, went to coach the Toronto Marlies and had the unfortunate task of being Hired by the Maple Leafs and expected to put out a winner on ice with a team that had such exciting superstars like Tie Domi and Aki Berg.  Maurice never had a chance and got hung out to dry.  He made an honest effort but when you’re given some really shitty players who rely on Mats Sundin to carry the load you’re pretty screwed.

Maurice was let go instead of the team being traded and the management team fired.  Immediately he was rehired by the Hurricanes his original team and he took them into the March of the conference finals only to lose and not make the playoffs for two years after that.  Since then the coach has not had it easy, but does any coach have it easy?  It was time to go.  With Carolina losing almost every game this season, he was finally released of his duties.

So? Who’s in?
Kirk Muller!  The guy the Canadiens made the mistake to allow leaving to pursue a coaching career.  A proven winner in the NHL.  A proven leader in the League knows what it takes to win and knows what it takes to come short to pursue it more the next year.

When Jacques Martin was hired for Montreal he led them to the Conference Finals in his first year, the right combination of grinders, scorers and playmakers.  A hot goalie, and hard work ethic and a lock down defense after giving up a 3-0 series lead always worked the first two rounds. Of that year that is…

The Coach all the players responded to the most on the bench? Muller, if you ever saw a Canadiens game the one guy who was stone cold quiet on the bench was Martin, maybe he’s embarrassed of his disgusting tie choices.  The player who delivered the messages, and line changes and combinations?  Muller, who was told by Jacques and turned and delivered it to the players.

Muller made it known he wanted the helm of the bench.  Pierre Gauthier made it known that he will not and allowed him to leave.  Will this choice come back and haunt Montreal?

I highly believe so!  Montreal has been struggling, worse than the “norm”.  The defense keeps getting injuries and just faltering.  The offense has too many grinders and is barely starting to light up.  It took Eric Cole almost two months to pick up the play he’s paid to do.  There’s a lot of upside, but with a coach who prefers defense when this is a speedy short offensive team it just doesn’t work too well.  Remember some of these guys are the same guys who lit up the league two years ago with an open offense attack.

Some of the players are out there working hard but Jacques doesn’t seem to be doing much to help them light it up.  No motivation on the bench.  No movement on his part.  I understand some players will have mental lapses, but the system he makes them employ in defense those lapses should be fine, instead it’s brought struggles.  This is a familiar scenario.  Some coaches don’t have a lasting battery power with their teams.

It’s on you now Jacques.  This team has been struggling since last year pushing the Bruins to the OT of game 7 and losing but in that series there were some fumbles on your part in line changes.  Mistakes kill a team and the goalie can only do so much to save the team before its too much and too late. And right now the team is almost to the “Too Late” Scrap the Season, point of the first half.  After those dark years, this is a scary time for the fans and the team with such a heavy tradition in winning. Right now the team is taking leads and just completely slipping up and letting the other teams come back, tie late in the game and win

So who, I know everyone already has been screaming for Jacques to be fired, I know I have.  WHO!!! WHO? Should come in.

Randy Carlyle is the best choice.  Recently let go, off a losing team, giving him a fresh chance.  Six years in Anaheim, one cup, two conference finals, and a few others second round entries.   He has the ability to work with tough aggressive players. Then mixing them with rookies and grooming them into scoring self-defending machines.  He knows how to mix the right amount of grit, with skill and turn it into a winner.  Let alone a team that is hard to come over to and beat because they have only small players.  Travis Moen can thank him for his status as a checker and grinder and a winner.

A Norris Winning defenseman, a former player of course by that.  A tough defenseman of course, and his ability to work with kids is easy to see what he can do to shape players.  Getzlaf, Perry, Fowler and the list goes on!

Carlyle is not afraid to mix in young players, into top minutes to give them the experience and force them to work hard and work consistently to stay on the team let alone in the league.  Something Jacques Martin is NOTORIOUS for not doing.  He is known for sitting rookie players on the end of the bench and letting them rot until their fifth year. Prime example, Jason Spezza, couldn’t buy playing time with the Sens back before the lockout.  When the senators were losing to New jersey to go for the cup finals he benched the most creative player and most energetic offensively that entire night, Spezza, to play fourth line grinders to go and grind a puck into the net?  New Jersey won the cup.

Doing the same thing now with Montreal.  This doesn’t bode well for LeBlanc and others.

What’s the issue? The ignorance of people wanting French-speaking coaches?  Why? My friends in the province, the ones with common sense, can’t help but shake their heads that the most important thing to the fans is a French speaking coach.  NO! It’s a coach who can turn the team into a winner. It’s a coach who can grab the team by the throat and make it do what he wants it to and have fun and win.  Carlyle is known to give his guys short and long leashes.  Expects a strong hard working effort and if they don’t like it they can be shipped out.  But Pierre Gauthier is too ignorant trying to play it safe, instead of trying to improve the skilled team and move up.

After all this? Tonight the Canadiens went back and forth with the San Jose Sharks, took the lead, and due to more blundering from the players and the Coach, the Sharks not only tied it.  But won it in the Shootout.  The Streak is at 6.  It's on you Jaques, and we want you gone already!

Well?

What would you do if you had millions of dollars and Built your own hockey Rink?

I had a conversation with the FiancĂ©e, she asked me how and what would I do if had a few million dollars and wanted to make money regularly and had my own hockey rink?  Here is how I would build it.  And no I will not show blueprints we have architects for that, i.e. my cousins.

After supervising a rink for over 6 months I got to see the cost and manpower that goes into running two sheets and having shitty stands in one and no stands in the other, That being said I would like to have three sheets of ice.

Here is how I would do it.

As far as the filler-

It would all be the more forgiving Plexiglas, much more helpful on hard hits and forgiving to hard shots with less breakage, it also offers a clearer view in my eyes so it would be easier for the fans too.  Netting of course above the glass, to not cause any fan injuries.  The ice would be sitting on a bed of concrete unlike some retarded rink owners who think sawdust/sand is the best choice.  It’s not and you’re fucking retarded if you think so.   So what do we have here? The Concrete where the boards are directly mounted onto, then the pipe coils laid down, a sheet laid down on top of that, flooded. Then another sheet laid down on top of that to paint the lines and designs, then more flooding until we meet the regulation ice.

Maintenance:  The ice should and will be maintained with hot water and quarter inch cuts to make sure you cut deep enough to remove huge rivets on the ice and enough to be repaired and regained and moderately edged on the boards to not allow too deep of a cut that will damage peoples legs. NHL spacing style benches with risers for the coaches. This is spoken from personal experience.

Thus brings the argument of Temperatures.  The ceilings will be low and very condensated.  The lower the ceiling the lower the temperature stays, less light bill more consistency with temperature flow.  Average good ice temperature is 24-26 degrees in the skating surface.  At 29 degrees after multiple games the ice spikes in temperature and you get slush, and injuries begin to happen.  So 25F degrees around -4C, the ice is not too warm and it’s not too cold where it chips and just gets gross.  That only means the temperature off the skating part will be no higher than 62 degrees. So grab a sweater with those shorts!

The Entry doors are also extremely crucial.  The front doors to the rink will be manual opening, then there is a 15-foot space between those outer doors and another set of Doors to enter the Arena officially.  This helps separate the outer weather if it is too hot or humid and allows temperament change for those coming in as well.  Also before going into the main ice areas will be another set of doors further separating the outer areas from the inside rink.  This is where the temperatures proves crucial as the Outer will be 62 degrees which changes with body heat in tournaments and parties as well as the 30F degree weather surrounding the outer area of the playing surfaces.

One of the considerations is also a Bar, not like a private club but one of the biggest money makers is putting a bar for parents and food in there as well so parents have something to do besides harass their own kids and coaches. Nothing is more embarrassing than having parent’s micro manage their kid’s lives in a fun game and environment.  Parents enjoying a drink, alcoholic or non alcoholic with parents means its more fun for kids on the ice and lets them focus. Do we need to mention Patrick O’Sullivan and his meddling dad?  Or do we need it repeated constantly?

Another plus to having a bar, is the ability to have a restaurant type of foods, granted hot dogs, pizzas, and such at prices that not only are reasonable and wallet robbing but able to not just become affordable but kids can have a treat instead of everyone having to go somewhere else for pizza.  Sadly for sugar and junk food this will be the only bad nutrition offered in my rink.  Kids need healthy food, not junk.

Of course each ice sheet will have four sets of lockers, each two will be conjoined by showers, and restrooms, you need to clean up if you expect the ladies or guys to think you’re cool to hug and… other.

Soundsystem?  You most certainly can bet your awesome face there will be one, it's a combination of whats needed ranging in mixes of brands like Bose, JBL, and Altec speakers, drivers and of course anyone who plays shitty generic rock like every rink will be punched.  The last thing that you need is same old 70s and late 80s same 15 song tracks.  We're gonna have everything played, and if need be we can host a concert as a fundraiser.  Growing up in hardcore and metal bands we always wanted gigs, this place will offer just that for local shows.

Sheet 1: The main course.

This would be the main sheet, the Olympic size sheet, I feel that all rinks if they have more than one sheet should have a regulation and an Olympic sized sheet each.  Olympic sheets offer that more open space; more room to play in and get creative for players and some defenses will have to work smarter to contain offenses.

This sheet would be sunk into the ground unlike the others for that Bowl feel of a rink.  Most of the classic NHL and European arenas and rinks have been made lowered into the ground; it offers a more aerial view for scouts, fans and staff.  With this aggressive angle as well, it elevates noise, makes the fans feel closer to the game and restricts obstruction viewing unless the idiot in front of you will not sit down.  The bleachers would be wrap around so everyone can watch from any end they want.  This would be great for kids of all ages for parents, friends and other family to come and watch their games and cheer instead of limited seating with smaller rinks, whether it fills or not, this would be the main draw to the rink.

Also starring, this ice will have a goal horn.  What home team wants to score and not hear their own horn? All leagues will enjoy this even adults will have a short blast and the most exciting will be for the kids, this will be their most fun part for them.

Sheet 2:  The NHL Regulation sheet.

This sheet would be the smaller, this would be the floor level sheet, with bleachers that go around one end of the ice to the other but nothing behind the benches which will become the locker room routes direct to the benches. Just like the main ice sheet.  Why do this? The Floor above the Locker rooms will be an equipment room for the main home team. This will work if a college takes residence and or a minor league team takes residence or both.  A Good equipment room is needed to do repairs for them or for people in house leagues, this would be a perfect feature,  From a table saw, to an industrial sewing machine for those hard composite/leather/plastic repairs. Heat guns for sticks, and sharpening machines.  Sticks, protective equipment, skate equipment like tongues and holders and runners.

As for the ice sheet it will be standard USA Hockey regulation ice, again the forgiving plexiglass for contact teams and those learning to skate and still cannot stop. We’ve all seen others hurt themselves trying to stop on the boards and hitting their shoulders or heads, this option will offer a shock when doing so and taking a hit.

Sheet 3: The Backup practice, Sled Hockey, and the Get-Creative sheet.

Why do I say this?  I went back to the ice after years of roller and went to an ice sheet that was half size, it was so small and claustrophobic, playing there with everyone running into each other and the stick handling with so many bodies and sticks and legs? You get really creative and you do some things you never knew you could in small spaces.  Imagine how it would feel, once you get on normal size ice?  Did I mention this would be synthetic Dry ice? Less Maintenance and more work to do on the ice for the players and less time having to wait for ice cuts.

Having a Half size rink also offers more room in the building for another room, Skate rental, and used gear room for selling and renting if needed.  How many times have you had a game where a goalie didn’t show up?  How many times have you wanted to try out your skill in the net without having to drop $1,500 dollars in gear, I mean, Passau Hockey pads are pretty freaking amazing, and so are Vaughn’s, but you have to start somewhere while saving up.  The only thing you need to bring is your own helmets or sticks and pelvic strap or jock strap.  Oh, and yourself.  This will also have a sharpening machine.

There you go, this is how it would be if I owned my very own hockey rink from scratch.

Montreal Canadiens vs Coyotes, the Miltary Days Edition 11-10-11

Coyotes vs Canadiens The ONCE every two years edition, and due to the friend who was going with me to the game disappearing two hours before game time, and I have to stay home and watch, I got fucked having to wait the next two years to see them.

PS, Fuck Tyson Nash, he looks like such a piece of shit.

“The Coyotes will try to attempt something they haven’t done since 1998, that is, beat the Canadiens”  Hilarious.

So because they’re honoring John McCain they’re not going to sing the Canadian Anthem? The hell?  Oh wait, they didn't televise it.  Weird, but whatever.

Notes On the First:

-“Big Taylor Pyatt the powerforward with the hard play to the net”  You mean Pyatt the ghost?  I like Pie, and his little brother is awesome too, but they ghost it a lot.

-Boedker scores, all they keep talking about is the coyotes losing to them years ago and how this time they will beat them, I guess it works so far, ps fuck them. (the coyotes play by play and color analyst that is)

-Already 8 minutes in and I’m tired of Tyson Nash’s voice, Mute, Music, on

-Oh my God, they injured Plekanec

-I’m gonna stop watching this fucking game

-I seriously haven’t paid attention since this happened.

-Habs score on a scrum and they waive it off, man what the fuck?  Denying Patches his goal?  “Whistle was gone”?  Stupid.

-Smith is having a good night, Habs let in the first goal, the Coyotes play the trap.  Ugh.

-Ok replay showing, Smith never had control of the puck, the puck was flopping in the net, then the whistle blew and got denied.  Little late there.

-The coyotes are chasing the Habs on the rush, but Moen is not a good puck carrier.

-Please god, I miss this game and now have to wait 2 years until they come back, IF the coyotes are still here, at least let Plekanec come back next period and just be a small bruise.  There hasn't been any talk about the ownership, no news is good news.

Notes on the Second:

-PLEKANEC IS PLAYING IN THE SECOND, THANK THE LORD.

-Coyotes are undefeated this season after leading the first period, but its just 3 games, but...they're still undefeated.

-Ugh, O’sullivan with a breakway because Weber did a drop pass to the defenseman…oh wait he’s the defenseman, what the hell Weber!!!

-SCORE, GIONTA WILL NOT BE DENIED

-Desharnais is clearly a fast, great stickhandling forward, fantastic playmaker, one of the most skilled and creative guys, and his speed scares off players, but in this game he’s clearly not thinking he can do it.

-The last person the teams need to lose is Plekanec, that was scary, so far Cammalleri is also injured and Gomez is waiting to be activated, if that happens

-Eric Cole is doing his job behind the net, hitting, taking hits, forcing a presence behind the net to open up players.

-OH what a save and fail by Pyatt

-Look at Price, slappin around the ice and still getting it done

-Why the hell didn’t the Canadiens get Patrick O’Sullivan?

-Eller with the penalty, come on guys.

-Moen sticking to Doan they’re trying to feed him the puck and he knows it.

-and Gionta clears the puck, Coyotes come back on the rush, and  Doan is being left alone, and WOOO, Darche stops the pass.

-Subban with the rush and the shot, and handcuffed Smith before it went out, that could have been a goal folks, but Smith didn’t Salo it.

-I don’t generally car if a kid is on there with the play by play guy, but don’t give too much of a shit, since the topic is bissonette, until he said he got snubbed by him, oh the hilarity.

-Canadiens cycling the puck and Spachoman fumbles which causes the puck to go out of the zone, terrible pass Man.

-“Price has been stealing the show on the other end”  Where the fuck have the Coyotes announcers been the last while? Or have you not paid attention?

-Maybe I haven’t paid attention much but when the hell did the coyotes get Chipchura?

-MOEN SCORES from Gionta and Plekanec, Canadiens lead the game.

-Moen has been solid this game, came in alone on the left of Smith and Pops over the glove, beautiful goal.

-aaaaaand it’s the end of the Second.

Notes on the Third:

-The coyotes cannot find lanes, and when they do find pass lanes, they overpass it.  The Canadiens are just dictating what they do and taking over.

-The Canadiens are starting to block more shots, blocked shots will help win games assuming you score, a grinder, checker like Moen, is making sure they have a lead by blocking, checking, and scoring.

-Diaz can’t handle Torres, who ties it and then almost smacks into the goal, Chipchura on the play too, what the hell?

-Desharnais gets tripped and goes down and now off to the bench. Ugh.

-Pac goes down and the ref doesn’t care, wack.

-This game looks like its going to overtime, the coyotes look frustrated in their chances vs Montreal, and the habs are generating offense but not finishing, same when the coyotes get a shot.

-The last time the Coyotes beat the Canadiens, Mike Sullivan was playing for them, Roenick scored the go ahead goal, Keith Tkachuk, Jeff Hackett was the Goalie wearing those kick ass Vic pads.

-Hal Gill is hitting the net with his shots, I’m pleasantly surprised.

-Palushaj gets planted on his ass by Derek Morris, great, now everyone will want Morris resigned until he retires.  Probably the same dumbasses who like Jovo.

-Coyotes and Canadiens get one point, with the game going to OT

Notes of OT:

-Why the hell are they talking about the whalers?  Oh because a drunk guy is dancing with a Whalers jersey on, WHOOOOO CARES

-The Coyotes are playing safe hockey, in OT? It’s the regular season bruh.  DO SOMETHING!

-Gorges gets a low hit from behind  yells at the ref about it, and the Coyotes announcers “he might have been embarrassed he got hit that’s why he’s doing it”  Stupid ass.

-PING! Sorry Weber

-Coyotes back up the ice on the rush, and Habs just take it back and head the other way, Drop pass.....

-OH SHIT, WOOOO GORGES WINS IT IN OVERTIME!!!!!

1998 continues for the Coyotes!!!

Beautiful goal,  good play, Gorges was left all alone, three coyotes on Eller, you knew something was going to happen.

And the Canadiens get two points, and the Grinders and pluggers pull the win for the team, excluding Gionta cause he’s a fucking star!

Canadiens vs Bruins and their (blank) fans

Notes on the First

Saw the fact that I was stuck with the faggy bruins broadcast, I FUCKING HATE JACK EDWARDS, what a ignorant homeristic piece of trash that man is.  Fucking dopehead.  If there was anyone as an announcer I wanted to punch more, its him.  Thank god last minute a  different feed showed up I’ll take it.  Because god forbid I have to put up with his shit.

Nothing happened in the first period since I left, theres been some health news in my house and I left.  I won’t be revealing it yet but , It’s beautiful.

All i know about the first is what my friend sent to me, "Eric Cole with a BOMB hit on that bich Kelly"

Notes on the 2nd

-Pk and Marchard with a shitty penalty, after a few minutes of coincidental minors, PK and Brad finally get to fight,

-THROW A FUCKING PUNCH

-       Alright, P.K.  You’re like four inches taller than that long nosed bitch, are you really going to let him punch you like that?

-I guess you will, what the fuck?

- Stupid faggy bruins fan with his  sign saying “Scared you better be”  to the Canadiens,  go fuck yourself, why would Montreal fear you?  Idiots.

Notes on the 3rd

-That’s a lot of yellow empty seats, are they too busy having a pissing contest with each other in the restrooms like they show constantly on youtube all chanting “habs suck” to one habs fan while they all high five each other while pissing?  Sorry dude I don’t high five another guys hand after holding his junk.

-THAT WAS A FUCKING PENALTY.  Canadiens midget player skating and bruins player skates behind him blows past him with an elbow and throws him off into the boards sideways? Pure BS.

-Play by play guys are saying “Price is too calm out there, its gonna bite him eventually”   Really dude?

-So Kostitsyn has been nominally quietly effective for the Canadiens and he’s being benched?  Trade him to phoenix for kyle turris.  I like turris maybe he’ll do good here.  Because I freaking hate him in phoenix.

-OH, that would have been a beauty of a goal for Gionta.

-Scott Thorton is a fucking moron, YOU’RE A FIGHTER DUDE, SUBBAN IS AN OFFENSIVELY SKILLED DEFENSEMAN, you fucking dolt.  Fourth Line trying to fight a top pairing D?  Fuck off

-PLEKANEC WITH THE GOAL FOR THE LEAD, wheres that fucking sign now, who’s scared?

-Bruins are trying to counter by being more physical against the Canadiens, only to be left behind .

-Fabulous save by Price on Horton, fuck Horton

-Kostitsyn and Moen take off and Moen is about 15 feet ahead of the play and offside, the Bruins player trying to rub out Kostitsyn with the puck after the play was blown dead and he just throws the player on the ice.  Yeah, beat that.

-Bruins pushing to tie it with the last two minutes, what a great stop by Price.

-Last 25 seconds is all Bruins on the habs net.

-You gotta Love “big bad lucic” punching 5’6’’  Gionta in the face, real tough you fuck.

-Loving the shots of Cam Neely standing up frustrating, fuck you Neely, fucking bongo.

-Price with yet another save, sorry cancer support, but these wins are more important.  Besides I’d like the NHL to support cancer research not cancer awareness.

- And the Bruins run out of time, Canadiens with the second win

- And Nokelainen took all 4 of the last faceoffs in the zone to kill off the Bruins attemps at offense.  I didn’t like him in Phoenix but he did pretty good today.  Atta Boy.

Canadiens vs Panthers, the Pink Panther, Keep abreast edition

Notes on the First Period

-Thanks to shitty programming interruptions I missed the Goal by Pacioretty, whoops.

-What the hell another interruption? I’m pretty annoyed.

-       Ok, so while this is like that, lets talk about the current losing.
The Canadiens are losing, and seem to have no upside, It took Carboneau about 2.5 years, to take over from Bob Gainey coaching to taking over the Helm, having a great season losing in the second round to struggling the next year and being fired after being swept in the first round by the Bruins. Then Martin took over the helm led them to the conference finals only to lose to the flyers who went on to barely hang on vs the Hawks.  To last year pushing the now current cup champs lame ass Bruins to overtime of a seventh game facing injuries, and giving up a 2-0 game lead, to ….this.

They’re not doing well, in fact I haven’t seen them give up wins like this in years, take the lead, or even look one or two steps behind every team in every game, barely hanging on. There’s only so much a team can do, or star players can do before the team starts to slide completely.

Who is to blame? Is it Jaques Martin? Is it Pierre Gauthier? I solidly believe it’s the GM.  Martin can take teams to do good things, look what he did with the senators, but back then they were stacked with solid players all over, but he did also ignore his young players for shitty fourth line grinders…..looks familiar.  I think its both, Gauthier did nothing this off season except sign a guy with one leg who can’t play on either leg until January at this point…and….nothing else really comes to mind save for Diaz.  Stupidly enough he took a solid awesome center in Betts but I guess the doctors found a phantom illness in him and gave him back, now they have Nokelainen, who is solid, in the AHL.

Something has to change and has to be done.  Ok well that’s enough ignoring play that has come back.

-Versteeg scores, what the hell? Why?

-Well, its kinda nice to not have Ed Jovanovski in phoenix, god damn I hated him so much, look at him, terrible decisions made on ice.  Never hits the net.

-How the hell did Markstrom make that save, he’s not even higher than a foot off the ground on his back  and Pac spins and instead of lifting the puck fires it along the ice straight into his glove. Sigh LIFT IT.

-Oh Look, Jovo is trying ot act tough with Moen, back off, did you not learn when you got your ass knocked out by Matt Walker?

-and speaking of shitty players, Why the hell is Budaj in net?  Why was he signed? Did Gauthier not read my 2011 NHL Dubious Awards post?  Come on man, I pay attention to hockey.

-The Panthers are one of the worst teams in years gone by, they shouldn’t be allowed by the Canadiens to skate around with the puck with such ease in the offensive zone.

Period over, boring hockey, over for this period too.

Second Period Notes:

-I guess I’m watching the Panthers casting because boy oh boy, I’m being told a bunch of shit about the panthers I give no crap about.

-Love that Subban is just toying with the panthers when he gets the puck, “you comin to get it? Ok bye!”

-Good to see that Diaz has some jets, nice to see when Subban doesn’t have  to be on the ice to catch the play.

-I’m not a big fan of the panthers, its kind of hilarious they keep trying to keep them afloat when they’re equally or worse than the coyotes in attendance, and often, I mean they freaking  tarp off sections of seating to count it as less seats in the house to have better attendance?  Cheating Much?

-I don’t think giving the save fo the game to the Panthers goalie early in the first is a good idea, but then again Price isn’t playing so the Habs defense is playing a more collapsed way around Budaj knowing he’s not as reliable.

-I like PK being exuberant, he makes the game more fun, but calling him for a penalty when the other player had him tied up? Retarded

-WHAT A SAVE BY BUDAJ wow, didn’t think i’d say that did you? Neither did i!  ON a breakaway too

-and he leaves the net and the defense has to make the saves for him.  Wow! Weiss is tearing it up, but not on the scoreboard.

-They’re trying everything!

-And their powerplay is over!

-The Canadiens are starting to fight back, it’s kinda nice to see that.

-Weber has a canon why does it only get used once every other game? SHOOT THE PUCK MORE DUDE.

-Patch with the good shot, and immediately with a bad penalty

- And back into the defensive, I just realized, we have a few too many defensive grinder type players, theres lots of good ones but  oto many doesn’t get it done.

-Is it me or are the panthers against me? I keep having play stoppages. Now back to play.

-I’m a little bummed the Canadiens make a shitty trade for Nokelainen and the panthers traded David booth, that totally sucks, we could have used him.

I'm honestly a little surprised the game is tied.

Notes on the Third

-Too much fancy stickhandling makes players give up the puck, sometimes its great but you gotta cut down on overdoing it, looking at you Eller.

-Man, screw Upshall, stupid Budaj

-After further review, Damn It!

-That hook should have had a penalty, how the hell did Kulikov get away with that?

-RANDOM FACT OF THE DAY: did you know Kevin Constantine was a goaltender in the Canadiens System?

-Come on guys, PICK IT UP!!!!

-There are way too many turnovers, I thought Jaques Martin had a system for defense and offense?  I wonder if Martin is puking at the lack of offense.

-If Fleischman is the guy crashing your net you have a defensive problem.

-Jesus, they get the puck give it away at the blue line end up offside and dump it and back it comes.   Communicate boys.

-Stephen Weiss is on fire, why can’t we have him?

Sorry, missed the last few minutes of the game, I got some news that just blew my mind, I may make a blog about it, if not I’ll mention it.

Canadiens vs the Penguins, The toothless Baby Bulldogs edition

Period One Notes:

-So I tried to just watch the game and then update after the period, then realized, oh shiiiiiiiii…..thats why I’m doing this blog, Merp.

-Andrei has been pretty solid lately, and then takes a penalty and a goal by the penguins.

-The penguins attack is just there in your face, I don’t know what the hell is going on but the Canadiens took way too long to get out of their own zone.  It took Price diving across his crease to stop the play.  And freezing the puck.

-Then another save and again same thing but this time out.

-KOSTITSYN WITH A BREAKAWAY…..fail

- Subban is getting booed by the penguins fans? Why?

- WHY DOES SUBBAN LOOK SO OUT OF PLACE, WHAT HAPPENED THIS SUMMER?

One thing that really stands out is that the Canadiens have downgraded as far as play in the last five games.  Something is really going on, wrong that is, not right.

I guess the plus side of this is hearing the Canadiens Radio ply by play guys  doing the TSN broadcast, very alleviating instead of having to listen to that fuck with that Maguire fuck.

Second Period

-SAVE BY PRICE, STOPPED BY PRICE, little less of that please

- Lars Eller is not looking well.

- Eller throws a hit and lands on his ass.

- If you have Arron Asham dominating your top players, you have a god damn problem

-  Oh look after I wrote that, he gets an assist.

- And Pacioretty, is hurt

- Maybe it’s because he ghosts it, but I didn’t realize or care to realize that Gomez was injured, I guess I have to pick on Kostitsyn.

- Two minutes later:  Pac jumps on the ice and takes a shift, and is now struggling to get back to the bench again

-Jeez, two straight powerplays and all I hear is “Save by Price”

- What happened to this once dominant powerplay, on the book and on the stats according to say…EA sports NHL games we have one of the most talented fastest teams, but on this team, they’re chasing the puck, chasing their passes, and falling.   Seems like Gionta and Cammalleri, Plekanec are the only ones not named Carey Price who work hard out there.

-There’s a bit I love, look up Terrible Terry Tate, where he’s getting pumped up and ready to bring the hurt to a guy just yellin “YOU WORKIN IT BABY, THE PAIN TRAINS A COMIN, WOO WOO THIS TRAIN RUNS ON TIME WOOO WOOO PAIN TRAIN BABY WOOOOOOO YOU BEST BE READY”

^^^THAT’S WHAt….sorry, caps,  that’s what I think of with all the habs injuries, its like a slow inevitable train that just won’t stop, Did we lose something with Hamr and Wiz walking away? They were technically the only tough guys on the team.

- That one pens fan scream “GOOO GOOOOO”  Shut the fuck up man, reminds me of some stupid coyotes fans when I go to games.

- Hey look, Gionta, crashing the net, the 3 foot tall guy crashed the net.  Wow.

-  Another Montreal powerplay, vs one of the top PK units in the league as of the last powerplay.  And Paul Martin Clears it.

-I really have nothing to post and then the period ended, this was atrocious to watch.  I don’t wanna sound negative but is this 2007?

Third Period Notes

-I’m a true fan, even though I know this third period may not be amazing, I’ll watch it.

-Carey price boke his stick on the boards, the same boards almost every goalie breaks them on in this penguins arena.  Weird

- This defense looks dismal, but at least the Penguins are helping by blocking their own shots.

-In Other News, Hamrlik just scored a goal against the Flyers, sigh, but hey at least its on Bryzgalov, the king of soft goals who looks around at his players “where the fuck where you?”  Douche

- Asham, this time he finishes what he starts, sigh

-  But in all honesty that goal was nuts, I mean the guy came in and batted it out of the air……Wait a minute!!! That’s CROSSBAR LEVEL@!!!@#$@!

- DAMN IT!!!   I guess you gotta celebrate your 700 career game with a goal I guess.

-There’s that point of the day where you eat too much say…at a friends or family members, where they keep slapping food on your plate, where your eyes just glaze over, I’m not eating, but I feel that with this game.

-The penguins are doing tough boardwork, They brough the hammers and nails and glue.  They have that puck to them on the boards, that’s not right,   I could fix that in NHL GM Mode.

-  Anyway, Habs take a penalty, it’s the down syndrome Kostitsyn.

- That should have been a penalty shot

-Should I write about this powerplay?

- Michalek with the breakaway, that was about it.

-Nothing

- GIONTA!!!!  WITH A SLAPPER from the point, Diaz threw a hit and Gionta drives it home with Darche holding down the fort in front of the net, THAT’S HOW YOU PLAY

-  Well, at least Fleury lost his shutout.
1-4 -1 is not something we expect out of this team, with a good coach there, and new talented players?  This is not as cool as you may think, I’m a little disappointed  But  Its only the start of the season, its all about recovery.

Well the game is over and a few things come to mind, Gomez is injured, Eller is still recovering, and Pac has to be injured.  What next?  There's only up to go from here, let's see what goes on.

The Rules of Being a Human

I wish i could take full credit for this but i read this a few years ago and i just ran into the link today, i have to post it, its not just funny, but true/real. And we all know about keeping it real, that is until it goes wrong.

by Cherie Carter-Scott

1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period.

2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."

3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."

4. Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.

5. Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.

6. "There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."

7. Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.

8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

9. Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.

10. You will forget all this.

Buffalo Sabres vs Montreal Canadiens, Oct. 18, 2011, the Ehrhoff as the Hab killer edition

Period 3 Notes:

Not gonna lie, I knew what time the game was, but I just got a brand new Nintendo Wii, as soon as I got home I made a mental note to play it with my Fiancee and then tune in to the game and three hours later,

16 left in the third

-Seriously, what is with this team all of a sudden?  Where’s the foot speed?

-I did not know Cole would be so slow, I guess NHL11 didn’t lie when it said he was a 79 speed overall.  Wow

-Dear Ray Ferraro, I don’t care, granted I like the sabers, but not enough to wanna hear about them all day long, if Lindy Ruff was so great, I think 15 years would have delivered more than one finals appearance

-Price does look solid though.

-If you haven’t paid attention, Price is wearing his pink pads and mask, looks solid, of course though, Carey Price has the most style out of all the goalies in the show.

-This dumb,…I mean, dump and chase isn’t working for them, carry the puck.

-Dude, Gomez, hit the net with a shot come on, you were OPEN

-Bufaslug is just taking it, every chance they’re clearing like a powerplay.

-Leopold almost pulled a Steve Smith, damn it!

- Every single rush the Canadiens make, BAM, nope not gonna happen,
- Next rush, Denied.

-Empty net, Denied.

- It’s official, Christian Erhoff, is a Hab killer, I hoped it was only in the preseason but no, Its now in the regular season, ten more years of this shit.

-And with that it’s over, lack of discipline, no communication, shitty playing by Gomez and the ability to easiy turn the puck over the second they reached the offensive zone leaves the Canadiens with a loss.

Carey Price Can’t save everything, I’m high on him I believe in him, but the defense lacks any communication, the offense is lacking their superstar player in Cammalleri, the big powerforwards like Pac and Cole aren’t being true powerforwards and well….I’m glad this shrimp alfredo is ready because I’m not going to go into a full rant…..again.

I had originally really hoped that the Canadiens would have let Markov walk and signed Ehrhoff  since they let Wiz go, instead they signed markov to over 5 fucking million dollars.....TO NOT PLAY HIM.

You don't sign defensemen who havent played a full season in almost three years to five million dollar contracts, let alone one full year.

Ehrhoff is a FAST defenseman, smooth skating i'm not kidding i see him skating and its phenomenal, he's no Scott Niedermayer with his skating but he's damn good.  His shot isn't amazing but he hits the net makes rebounds for other players to pick up the puck and pump it in for a goal or makes for a dangerous play ensuing.

Markov? refresh my memory, it's been a long time, granted he's good, he made Souray dangerous by feeding him the puck, then Streit, then Hamrlik before the team got Bergeron while he was in and out of the IR.

This makes me a little sad to think, and i was speaking with another canadiens fan, the other day and he was saying the same thing, glad to see i'm not the only one who feels this way.

Canadiens vs Flames, The Real Home Opener Edition

Pre-Game:

-Wooo I’m excited, shame the telly won’t show the good stuff going on, warmups and the players hitting the ice and the fans going apeshit, shame they only show 10 seconds of that, I don’t really care about hearing Charlie Zimmer’s voice talk about the flames, sorry bro, I didn’t like you in phoenix.

-The AnnouncerLacroix is awesome so classy and can bounce between languages like no other.

-OOOOH, this intro is different a little, always gotta love the kids bearing the flags, even more love for the kid with the torch, that just gives me goosebumps.

-I wish I could go to a Game, I hate living in Arizona, have to wait two years to see them.

-Come on Golmer do something

-Pleks always gets some love

-Hahaha, Peter who?...oh wait the backup.

-Eruption for Price, naturally.

-Desharnais certainly needs more appreciation.

-Darche is back, love that guy, great role model for the baby habs.

-MaxPac is back and everyone is letting him know that they’re glad to see him, and its getting louder and louder for him.

-P.K.!!!!! P.K.!!!!! P.K.!!!!!

-Hmmm Gomez is wearing RBK 11K’s maybe this year will be different for him…….

Period 1:

-Cole already with the big hit.

-Habs running around already in the flames’ zone and Subban with a huge shot off the draw.

-KOSTITSYN WITH THE FIRST OF THE YEAR AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!!!!!

-Does Olli ‘Rapeface’ Jokinen ever win draws? Seriously, seeing him here in phoenix it never happened, I guess nothing changed because Plekanec is spanking him in every draw.

-Charlie Zimmer is not a bright color commentator.

-…..and Bourque ties it on the powerplay…..

-Flames powerplay is killing Montreal, stupid penalties and a goal by a stupid player, Hagman? The leafs castoff? Ugh.

-Glad I’m having alcohol after the second goal, David Moss gets Montreal the lead.

-Price is looking….ok….should go back to Vaughns, this is a uncool start of the season for him so far.

-But can you blame him, the defense is suddenly not being defensive, too many players breaking through, through the middle more so, that is not good.

-As usual the team comes out with a Bang, then….stop.  And that’s where the Flames took over, half a dismal period, go figure.

Second Period:

This is probably my last one.

-HOW COULD THAT NOT HAVE GONE IN?

-Kippers pads look like they’re Passau pads modded to look like Bauer.

-Jokinen with a stupid penalty, Habs onto the powerplay, Come on guys!

-A powerplay for Montreal shouldn’t have to be in a defensive backrush to stop David Moss ON THE BREAKAWAY, what the hell is going on!?

-ANOTHER fucking flames breakaway, what the fuck is going wrong here?

Alright I’m out, theres a good ten miles max of biking with my name on it and my lungs are just not excited, byeeeeee

PS: I may have to cut the game short, gotta try and bike 6-10 miles today so commitments are commitments when you have people riding with you.  What a shame, but I’ll have more notes when I get back from the game, I found this gnarly app that allows me to tune in to the Montreal sports radio station so I can hear the game like last year through XM, but free.  Beauty.

Montreal.....OPENING NIGHT!!!

Alright Boys and Girls, today is the first official home game of the season for Les Glorieux, first game since the Cammy injury and big win against the Jets in their home opener.

The home opener always has Pomp, always has Circumstance.  This is the biggest crowd, i live in another country and i see it and how much it affects teams for and against.  I've watched every teams home game in the playoffs and none can rival the loudness, each home game is the equivalent of a playoff game, what more can you say?

I'm excited to see Diaz make his debut, the guy says he's nervous, he's played in Euro leagues that have fans standing up whistling and chanting through the whole game!  and He's nervous about this game?  Crazy.

Gill has twice as many games in experience than all other dmen the Habs are dressing tonight.
Injury updates:
Markov is in Florida for final checkups to make sure what his ETA is

and

Lars Eller makes his season debut tonight, i have a lot of hope with Eller, he's smart, fast, ridiculous hands, amazing vision on the ice with his passing, and playing behind Plekanec he gets to see what he'll become, a great two way center who can impact everything.  Just give him time.

Palushaj was called up for this game to replace Cammalleri in the game.

Carey Price said he really liked that he spoiled the party for the Jets first game.
Carey Price will have the chance to enter the record books during the Habs home-opener. With a victory, the young netminder would join the likes of Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur and Terry Sawchuk among the ranks of goaltenders to have won 100 games by the age of 24.

If you haven't noticed, lately since the start of training camp he ended his contract with Vaughn.  So no more awesome pads like these that he wore last year.

Since then, he's switched to using Pink RBK 4 goalie pads for the Fight Against Cancer month of October, these are his regular practice/game pads but the pink ones will have a pink stripe down the middle.

Player To watch today as i said last game, Yannick Weber, he's gonna make a real difference again, specially with that big slap shot.

Update on the Cammalleri injury is not much, he suffered a cut, but it didnt do any damage to his knee, muscles, or tendons it was just a cut to the skin, so its gotta heal with the stitches and make sure no infections and he'll be back soon, from my personal experience and lacking on the medical staff they have unlike the one i didnt have, he'll be out two weeks until it's fully healed.  Thank goodness.
