The Most Terrible Trade Since the Gomez trade in Montreal

Michael Cammalleri.

One of my favorite players in a Montreal Canadiens Uniform this side of Tomas Plekanec, Carey Price, P.K. Subban, and of course Mighty Munchkin Captain: Brian Gionta.

That was my top 5.

Unlike you, I dislike Andrei Markov, cannot stand that they keep paying him for nothing. Three Seasons basically lost in injury?  Is this a sick joke?  Let’s pay a man, MILLIONS, 5.75 Million Dollars to be exact.  TO SIT OUT.

If I wanted that I would have signed Eric Lindros and sent him home.  If I wanted that I would have signed…6-7 different minor leaguers and stockpiled them into the Hamilton bulldogs and just brought someone up from the team to play Defense…. oh wait the prospects got traded for Gomez, Valentenko, and McDonagh.

Lets…Marinate on that for a second.  But we’re not here to pick apart the Gomez trade again, everyone else already has.  I was excited to be honest.  I mean, I’m Mexican, Gomez is half Mexican, and half what fuck else other Latino descent.  So we’re both brown skins.  So I was excited, I mean I loved him in jersey; I looked up to him since we’re very alike.    But that’s as far as the pleasantries go.  My man is too overpaid, and too inconsistent, flimsy, and although I love his skating which is kind of cool, because we both kinda jump when taking off like that, not even I dump the puck five feet into the zone and take to the bench.  For fucks sake man, do work like a Mexican does, when everyone is complaining, “Mexican stole my job”

Bob Gainey said this about that trade
"We are extremely pleased to have acquired an impact centre man in Scott Gomez. He is an outstanding playmaker and an excellent skater. Having won the Stanley Cup twice with the New Jersey Devils, he brings to tour team a lot of playoff experience. Scott is an elite player who will certainly contribute to the success of our team for years to come."

I wonder if he ate his words ten minutes into the next season?

Back to Markov, this guy, why is.. Oh wait, Pierre Gauthier.   I forgot…this guy destroyed the other teams he ran, INTO THE GROUND.  Then was fired and now apparently an incumbent fool such as Bob Gainey replaces himself with an equally less competent buffoon.

Oh the sad part about being a Montreal fan right?  It’s like the Gretzky Coaching/Barnett GM era of Phoenix.  We’re in for some dark ages Lads, brace your selves because I think this might hurt a little more than the 90s-2001 eras.  So grip that beer a little tighter.

So, the team has not been hot.  Let’s face it, they suck, win one, lose three, win three lose five.  It’s not even the same team from last year where Price broke out and held down the fort for the entire terrible defense in front of him.  The players finally stopped listening to the coach and it showed beyond recognition.  You had to be blind to see they didn’t care at this point.

Hear that?  You had to be blind, please try to catch up.

So the team starts bad, fire the assistant coach who all the players loved (Pearn).  After letting go the assistant coach everyone really loved (Muller) that should have taken over, but no, he went to Carolina.  So what do they do after firing Martin, who was not a good coach, see my previous post on coaches HERE!!

So!! MARTIN IS GONE!!!
WHO IS IN?
Randy Cunneyworth, Randy Freaking Cunneyworth.
Do you remember Cunneyworth as a player?  In that Sabres team that went to the cup finals, yeah that was him running rampant in those 3 games he played, the guy who would fight anyone if he could and just try to break people in half?  He used to be the Senators captain too, remember him?  He was the one they stripped off in order to make Yashin the captain.  Remember who the GM of those teams was, Pierre Gauthier.  Let that settle in.  Let’s marinate on that for a bit.

The man who took the draft picks the sens accumulated from sucking, hired Martin, and then left the team two years to be part of the ducks, AFTER QUITTING SAYING HE HAD FAMILY ISSUES ONLY TO BE HIRED BY THE DUCKS TWO WEEKS LATER, who he then tore into the ground, traded everything away like Tverdovski a favorite to the fans and huge prospect to the ducks to the Coyotes FOR NOTHING!!!!

HE, Traded Selanne…. seriously that’s the motherfucker who did that.  He regressed both teams; luckily Disney smartened up on their cash cow and fired him before he traded away all the draft picks for someone like Krivokrasov.  What a fucking joke.

If you can’t tell by my cursing, which I try not to do, I’m pretty angry.  Here is why:

Michael Cammalleri, goaltending prospect Karri Ramo and a 2012 fifth-round draft pick had been sent to the Flames for Bourque, prospect Patrick Holland and a 2013 second-round pick. Cammalleri, goaltending prospect Karri Ramo and a 2012 fifth-round draft pick had been sent to the Flames for Bourque, prospect Patrick Holland and a 2013 second-round pick.

Let’s start here first though, before I go into breaking down the trade by that transient idiot.

Cammalleri said the team is playing like losers, (why? Because they’re losing!)  They prepare like losers therefore they lose.  This because they’re phoning it in and he’s one of the more competitive guys on the team and expects games to be won, like we expect them to, not fucking give up on plays and let the players score!!!  (Looking at every player except Plekanec and Gorges, and Price does his best, but no one seems to help.  Would have been nice with McDonagh in D!

So a guy calls it like it is, tells the truth in frustration and of course the Montreal Media and everyone and their mom in TSN decides. “Oh god he’s a problem he needs to go” Get the heck over yourselves.  Of course the stupid ignorance of the French media bitching and moaning along with the government, who should never be involved in sports yet makes its way into it, pushing for everything French on the team, just makes this an even bigger mess.  What a complete joke.

First of all, Cammy is a fan favorite, he’s the type of guy if you make the playoffs that you NEED IN THOSE GAMES, remember how he tore up Pittsburgh and Washington?   Remember how he brings a will to win attitude?  Now we have a ridiculous amount of  “Fans” claiming he was the problem.  Do you seriously want a scapegoat?  If you do lets talk about those idiots protesting the team for a French coach.  And lets also consider the team has won 22 cups with coaches who could barely say ‘Bonjour’

Ramo, who cares!  He’s never leaving the KHL.  But tossing in a draft pick?  What is the purpose there?   True story, there was a NHL GM who said “I wish I knew Cammalleri was being shopped I would have done anything to bring him into the team”

ARE YOU SERIOUS?  So with that impression in mind, what did Montreal get in return besides mocking?

Rene Bourque, a bad penalty taker, but cheaper, and younger and a little bigger, but not talented like Cammy (they could have asked for Glencross at least) He’s a grinder not a sniper, so…. that makes way too many grinders on the team, Moen needs to go then, since he’s basically useless on this team now it seems.  Patrick Holland is a seventh rounder, and doesn’t look like a steal.  Maybe he’ll turn into a good fourth liner…someday.  I’m not writing the guy off, yet, but in return for Cammalleri? Lars Eller was a steal, not Holland.   At least he speaks French so the ignorant fools can slow down a bit.   At least the Habs also got a return draft pick…. for another year.

I can’t even keep writing I don’t want this to get out of hand.  Only time will tell, but this team, this year is a joke, a mess, and a very bad regressing pun.

I said it best on facebook when I posted

Friday 13th January 2012
This Morning Montreal Canadiens Management advised the players they were safe from being dealt. This is, because it wasn't a game day.”
