Players Traded, Part 1: Odd Moments

I’m gonna be doing a full series of this, just go and revisit players the Canadiens and a few other teams have let go.  Funny moments, or something like a (n) “eulogy on his career in that sweater” or something odd.

Recently Montreal has traded quite a few players.  Adored, and hated.  So to start it off, a player everyone was crying foul when traded after going hot and taking them to the conference finals.  Jaroslav Halak.  Unfortunately for St. Louis he forgot he could be that good, fortunately for the Canadiens because it didn’t bite them in the ass since well, they got pretty good talent in return.  Lars Eller and Ian Schultz, Eller alone is enough, the guy is fantastic.

More on the picture later on!

The other player is Jaroslav Spacek, or Spacho Man as the nickname he gave himself on HabsTv.

Spacek did his part in Montreal, he played his part, took his hits and his shots and scored a few, but he was soft, but consistent and hard working.  The man earned his paycheck but was the odd man out, on his last year of his contract he was expendable and knew it, when management asked if they could trade him he said sure to help the team.

He brought Kaberle in return, Tomas Kaberle two years ago was going to be traded to Montreal at the cost of Yannick Weber and Tomas Plekanec, his stock fell so bad, same player, but more apparent of how bad he can be besides being a good Power play specialist.  Now Spacek was traded for him, what a cheaper return.  How the mighty have fallen.

Up in the next blog, How the Mighty Have Fallen?   With Andrei Kostitsyn for Jordan Staal and a second round pick, with a conditional pick the Penguins offered and Bob Gainey saying the worst word possible.  “NO” More on that Soon.

Anyway, funny moment/injury time: Spacek was rushing for the puck, and as his biggest flaw that Halak had was rushing to the puck too much, which led to the Habs demise and losing a chance to the cup finals vs. Chicago that Philly exposed.  Note the Flyers captain Mike Richards scoring because Halak rushed, missed and Richards recovered and scored.

In this occasion, This time injuring Spacek who if I’m right didn’t return until the playoffs that year.

And the quote I wrote the second I saw this.  Enjoy!
